I have 12 years experience in the care of handling dogs; this includes working alongside dogs in a grooming environment and also within a rescue centre.
ABOUT ME
My name is Kelly and I am animal mad. Ever since I can remember I have loved animals and wanted to work alongside them from an early age.
My family have bred & shown Bernese Mountain Dogs for many years so I have always been involved with the welfare and grooming of my own dogs for numerous years. I have always had pets and I share my life with a Bernese named Dodge, Maisy a Springer Spaniel and 2 Bengal cats Arrow & Thea.
My first working experience with animals was in 2002 when I was 13 and worked as a “Saturday girl” at a groomers. I then attended Myerscough College in 2005 and completed a diploma course in “Animal Management” in 2007. During my time at college I worked voluntarily within 2 different veterinary practices to gain more experience in the animal world. After college I then decided veterinary nursing wasn't for me and I wanted to be more hands on with the animals. In October 2007 I got a job at my local RSPCA Rescue Centre, and wanted to further my career in animal welfare. Although I loved my time there and it was very rewarding yet emotional I was still working at the groomers in my spare time and days off and I knew in my heart all I wanted to do was learn to groom.
I enrolled at Rease Heath College where I gained my grooming qualification, here I really learnt in depth about coat textures and canine anatomy, and how each dog is “put together” differently so I can adapt my grooming techniques to suit the needs of every dog I meet. I am also qualified in animal first aid & cat grooming.
