I’ve always wanted a tendered engine and with not being able to afford to purchase one, I decided to have a go at building one.

I started off with the constituent components of an LGB Spremberger loco and an LGB© “Toytrain” tender.

Work commenced by removing the cab back plate and coal load and then by extending the cab sides and floor with plasticard. White card was used on the interior and black on the exterior.

The canvas shelter was made from an old handkerchief and couple of brass rods soldered together.

The tender had the small “feldbahn” wheels removed and the tender lifted in height to match the loco.

Additional electrical pickup to the loco motor is supplied from the tender wheels.

The loco and tender were initially spray painted using Railfan “BR Colours” - Black. All other paints are from the Games Workshop range of acrylics. All weathering is done by hand using acrylic paints from the Games Workshop range and Scenic Rust. The “dust” along the bottom of the loco is sprayed on, again using acrylic paint. Both loco and tender have been over sprayed with “Testors Dullcote”
